Join the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra on November 14th as we celebrate 100 years of Roland Hayes and the music of African Americans in the United States. As the first African American concert artist, Roland Hayes inspired musicians across racial lines. We honor his legacy with pieces by Terence Blanchard, Dvorak, Duke Ellington, John Carter, and a special world premiere by Berklee student Harsha Thangirala.
In addition to honoring these wonderful composers, we also honor 100 years of Lenord Berstein’s works by performing his famous work “Candide”.
